St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran School
Volunteering to Serve Form
St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran School is a stronger school when volunteers from St. Mark’s congregation step forward to serve. Retired members, grandparents and other members who have time are encouraged to step forward and volunteer. There are many areas of need throughout the school that can be filled by volunteers. If you are a member of St. Mark’s and would like to serve as a volunteer in your school, please fill out this form and turn it in to the school of church office. Your service is needed and appreciated.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office or the person in charge of that particular area. You may also contact Mr. Fred Uttech, the school administrator with any questions. Your service to your Lord and to your school will bring many blessings to St. Mark’s.
In Service to our Lord,
Fred Uttech – School Administrator

Other Information about contacting you:
(See Explanation on back for areas of service)
Morning Lunch Ticket Sales: Lunch and breakfast tickets are sold at school every morning from 7:30 to 7:55 A.M If you can help, we will train you concerning the sale of lunch and breakfast tickets. You serve one day a week or several days a week. For more information, please speak with Mr. Uttech.
Kitchen Help – Serving Food: Breakfast and Lunch are served to the children every day. Forty to fifty students eat breakfast each day, and more than two-hundred students eat lunch each day. This requires a good deal of help. The volunteers usually help serve the food to the children and may help with clean-up. Breakfast help would be needed from 6:50 A.M. until 7:50 A.M. Lunch help would be needed from 11:15 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. If you can help in the kitchen for breakfast or lunch contact Mr. Uttech for more information.
Morning Room Helper: Many teachers welcome morning help with the students as they get ready to start their day. The school day begins at 7:55 A.M. Help could be used before and shortly after that time. It depends on the grade level, but many teachers welcome help listening to memory work, helping students with their before school routine, etc. Please speak with the teacher of the room you wish to serve in to obtain more information.
General Room Helper: This type of help depends on the needs of the particular classroom teacher. It could occur throughout the school day. Generally it may be help with a special project or activity. Also, it could involve help with field trips and other activities away from school. Contact the teacher of the grade you wish to volunteer in for more information.
Library: This will require a lot of work as the new library is set up. This set up could be before, during or after school on any given day. Once the library is set up, help will be needed throughout the school day to supervise people who come to the library. This supervision may also be needed if the church library is added to the school library. Church members would be encouraged to come and make use of the library throughout the day. Additional information can be obtained for our school librarians, Mrs. Marilin Bock and Mrs. Sue Hahn.
After School Study Hall: This is a program designed to help students that struggle with homework. Some of those students are from our Hispanic families. This is an area of great need. The program runs from 3:10 to 4:00 P.M., Monday through Thursday. A teacher is on duty with volunteers each day the study hall is open. Volunteers work with individual students. The students often need guidance and reading help. Don’t be worried that you can’t handle the level of the material. The type of help that is needed can be accomplished by any individual that has a desire to help children. For more information contact Mrs. Georgene Hughes.
Playground Supervision: This is an area that would be a great help to the teachers. The students go out for recess and lunch break every day that the weather permits. A pair of additional hands and eyes would be helpful. A teacher would always be on duty with you. If you wish to volunteer and need more information about times for recess, contact the classroom teacher of the grade level at which you wish to serve.
Remedial Help: This type of help is under the supervision of our remedial director, Mrs. Jan Schadt. If you wish to help in this area please give Mrs. Schadt a call to find out what type of help is needed. I hope many consider helping in this area.
