After School Study Program
| Volunteers Are Always Needed |

As we start our third year, St. Mark’s After School Study Program would like to thank the volunteers who have been assisting the children with after school learning program!

We are always looking for more volunteers?

We currently have 27 children in the program and 5 volunteers. We are always looking for a few more volunteers.

Our study | tutoring program runs Mondays through Thursdays from 3:10-4:00PM.

The program has students divided into two learning groups; grades 1-5 and grades 6-8.

The children often need help with their reading, math, and memory work.

Don’t be concerned with the learning; there is a teacher on duty each day working with the volunteers.

This type of learning assistance can be accomplished by any individual that has a desire to work with and help children.

Please consider sharing your talents one or two days a week or every other week. Any amount of time is greatly appreciated.

The After-School Study program continues to grow and is making a measurable difference for the students, their families and teachers.

If you wish to volunteer, pay a visit to the study program or if you would like more information, please contact Mr. Uttech (262-8501) or Mrs. Georgene Hughes (261-7175). Your assistance can make a real difference!

Mrs Georgene Hughes serves as St Marks volunteer Study Hall Director.

Mrs Hughes is MATC's Liaison for CPAAC (College Preparedness and Academic Center) | Eastern Region and has worked on the Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Watertown Campus since 1995.

She is an Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor.

She teaches basic skills; reading, writing, and math to prepare students for MATC accredited programs and/or earn their GED / HSED certificates.

Georgene is a graduate of both Northwestern Preparatory School (now LPS) in Watertown, WI and earned her Bachelors Degree in Education from Dr Martin Luther College (now MLC) in New Ulm, MN. She taught 5 years on the Apache Reservation in Bylas, AZ before moving back to Watertown.

Her family (husband and 3 daughters) are St Marks members and live in Watertown.
