In May 2003 she graduated from Martin Luther College with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Math.
She served two years at St. Croix Lutheran High School in St. Paul, Minnesota; teaching Algebra, Geometry and Keyboarding. She also served as a Dorm Supervisor during this time.
